Cette semaine en français nous avons travaillé sur les réponses à des questions sur l’école:

Les maths, l’anglais, le français, l’histoire, les sciences,

Fairfield will celebrate France and French culture on the 3rd of June!

During the morning we will have a “mini concert” and the children will complete numerous special activities from all areas of the curriculum. The children will then have a chance to display their efforts.

It would be wonderful to see the children come dressed up -it can be as simple as wearing French colours, a beret or sporting a moustache or if you want, can be more involved.

Children will be eating French pancakes (crêpes) and will be encouraged to ask: could I have a pancake please? How much is it (playing with fake money).

Est-ce que je peux avoir une crêpe, s’il-te-plaît? (Ess-keh-jeh-peh-av-wha-oone-crahp-seel-teh-play?) Could I please have a pancake please?

Combien ça coûte? (com-bee-yan-sah-coot) How much is it?

Ça coûte cinquante centimes. (Sa-coot-sang-cont-son-team). It costs 50 cents.

Merci, c’est bon! (Mer-cee, say-bonh) Thank you, it’s yum!

They will also be asked about their activities: what did you do? I did…

Qu’est-ce que tu as fait aujourd’hui? (Kes keh too ah fay o-joor-dwee?) What did you do today?

J’ai fait du dessin. (Jay fay dew deh-son.) I did some drawing.

We are all really looking forward to the 3rd of June, le 3 juin!

Cette semaine, les enfants ont révisé (this week, children revised):

 Lève-toi! levh-twa (stand up).

Entraînez-vous à la maison quand les enfants passent à table et quand ils finissent de dîner! (Practice at home when your children join and leave the dinner table!)

Nous avons commencé à dire notre nom! We started to say our names!

On a commencé à faire la 1ère page de notre cahier. We have started the first page of our scrapbook!

Le matériel de classe et comment demander de partager le matériel (classroom material and how to ask to share it):

 “Est-ce que je peux avoir la gomme s’il-te-plaît?” ‘Could I have the rubber please?’

Le crayon à papier (the grey lead pencil); Le taille-crayon (the sharpener); Les ciseaux (the scissors); La colle (the glue); Les crayons de couleur (coloured pencils).

On a commencé à faire la 1ère page de notre cahier. We have started the first page of our scrapbook!

On a fait le programme de résilience (bounce back): Il est important d’être honnête! Il est important d’être juste!

Bon travail (good work) les années 1 et 2!

Great fun singing our raps at the beginning and end of our lessons!

Term 4 sees the introduction of the AIM method of using gestures to aid our French learning in the upper school. The children in Grades P-2 have already been introduced to this method.  Grades 3 to 6, now spend their French lessons speaking only in French while gesturing. Already I can see the children better recalling and then increasing their vocabulary!
